Some couples do not want the traditional wedding photos that you usually see in wedding albums, but are not sure how to get creative with their wedding party. If you have visited Pinterest in the past, you may have seen the photo edits that add the couple into the world of Star Wars, or being chased by a T-Rex. But what kind of props can you bring on your wedding day to add to the fun of the photos? We have some suggestions.
Furniture and Decor
This is a great way to add your theme into your photos. Think of an outdoor, chic set up where you and your wedding party can re-create vintage images, or a scene from a television show like Mad Men. You can rent different furniture decor from rental companies, including vintage mirrors, chandeliers, and more. If you prefer to buy your furniture and other props, you can shop at second-hand stores like Goodwill or a local thrift shop for a great selection; or you can even try hitting a few local garage sales to see what’s available.
Balloons
A wedding trend that has also been seen in photos lately has been wedding balloons, adding a pop of color to your photos. The best thing about the balloons is that they are relatively cheap to obtain and look great in photos. You can work in your wedding day colors, or even go for a stark contrast. If you want your guests to be able to take their balloons home as a wedding favor, you should spend the extra money for ones made out of Mylar. If you are very budget conscious, you can just buy latex balloons; but the Mylar ones are going to last a lot longer and look much better in your wedding photos.
Sparklers or Lanterns
Spell words out using sparklers, or light up the night with paper lanterns (just make sure where you are doing these allows open flame and you have proper disposal receptacles) and allow your photographer to capture the glow of these items with you and your bridal party. You can usually find inexpensive wedding sparklers at any fireworks store as soon as the 4th of July is over, and most retailers sell paper lanterns all year long. For the best results, you should use 36 inch long wedding sparklers because they show up the best in photos. Shorter sparklers create a lot less light, so they just don’t work as well.
Don’t Forget Your Pet
If you do not have room for them in your wedding, a great way to add your pet to your wedding celebrations are in photos. Capture the unconditional love with your pet on your special day and don’t leave them out of your celebrations. You may even want to think of getting them a little bowtie to wear in the photos! There’s really nothing more memorable than a great wedding day photo with your cat, dog, or other pet, so make sure you take the time to include them.
There are a lot of props that you can use in your wedding photos, and these are just a few of the many possibilities out there. Wedding photos are meant to be a creative expression of your love together, so take your time when thinking of props to use to make them a great addition to your scrapbook.
