Babies are the biggest gift of god to a woman. Caring and nurturing the little one, gives immense pleasure to mother. A mother forgets her troubles, tiredness and sickness once she sees her kid smiling. Upbringing a child is not at all an easy task as it may seem to be. The little one can neither speak nor can he express his feeling if he is unwell. It is the mother’s duty to check for the symptoms and take care especially when the weather changes. As it said, ‘Prevention is better than cure’, as a mother you need to be extra careful during the seasonal transition. I am listing out few helpful tips in this article.
- Breastfeeding: According to Mrs Savita Jain, a child specialist in thane, a child who is completely on breastfeeding (up to six months) is lesser prone to outside infections and seasonal viral fevers.Breastfeeding helps in building a strong immune system as well as a child attains all the physical milestones on time.
- Vaccinations: Make sure all the vaccination is given on time.Vaccination is indeed very essential in building a strong foundation of immunity.Contact your paediatrician, he will give you a complete chart along with dates specified when the vaccination is due.
- Bathing very carefully:Give bath to your baby very safely by maintaining equal temperatures between bathroom and bedroom. If not possible, give bath to the baby in the bedroom itselfusing a baby bath tub. Use a room heater and don’t forget to dry his hair. As a child, can be prone to cold through his wet hair also.
- Maintain good Hygiene: Babies are susceptible to infections than adults. Mrs. Bhawna Dixit, paediatric eye specialist in thane stated that a lot of infection propagated through dirty hands. Make sure to sanitize your hands (best option is to wash them) before touching any vital organ especially eyes and mouth of the baby. Change the diaper of the baby regularly. Make sure he is not wet.
- Clothing:During winters make sure that your kid is wearing sufficient layers of clothes. Always cover his head and feet so as prevent from getting cold.
- No to crowded places: Say complete no to crowded place or public places. You need to control your desires for your child especially during the changing season. There is no best placefor a kid other than HOME. At times, it is not possible for you to keep your kid inside the home always and you need to take them out, so ensure preventive measures are in place.
If your child is attending some crèche or day care, make sure the attendants out there don’t let him mix up with a sick child. Don’t ever take your healthy child to hospitals un-necessarily. He may get infections from the infected persons in the hospitals. But all this doesn’t mean that your child will never get ill. The baby’s body will learn how to fight against infection this way only. Don’t panic and be calm. Try out some simple home remedies first and then visit your paediatrician. Make sure you take your own well immunized toys when you visit the doctor.
Hope these little tips will help you in caring your baby during the season change.
